The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended an official invitation to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid to participate in the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in 2023. The invitation was extended in conjunction with the celebrations of UAE’s 52nd National Day.
The invitation was officially handed over by UAE Ambassador to Iraq, Salem Al-Zaabi, who conveyed greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid expressed his gratitude for the invitation and emphasized the strong relations between Iraq and the UAE.
During the meeting, the UAE Ambassador expressed appreciation for Iraq’s contribution to the progress of the UAE and pledged support for Iraq’s security, stability, and the well-being of its people.
In addition to the official invitation, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also extended an invitation to Iraqi President Barham Salih to attend COP28 in Abu Dhabi during a phone call between the two leaders. The conference is focused on the global fight against climate change, and the UAE has been working towards achieving its climate goals, including increasing the share of clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.
The invitation extended to the Iraqi President is a testament to the strong ties between the UAE and Iraq, and the commitment of both countries to work towards a sustainable future.
