Egypt’s Minister of Environment Prepares for COP28 and Showcases Commitment to Global Climate Change Initiatives

Egypt’s Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, recently convened a meeting with high-ranking officials from various ministries and industries to discuss the logistical preparations for Egypt’s official pavilion at the upcoming COP28 in Dubai, UAE. The meeting focused on equipping the pavilion with appropriate design and technical equipment, as well as the involvement of the private sector and national agencies.
During the meeting, Minister Fouad emphasized the significance of COP28 in building upon the success of COP27 and formulating a global goal for adaptation. She highlighted the active participation of relevant ministries in COP28 activities and took the opportunity to present Egyptian success stories in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Efforts to involve the private sector in environmental work and promote green investment opportunities were also a key focus of the meeting. Minister Fouad stressed the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable development and combat climate change effectively.
Furthermore, Minister Fouad underlined the need for COP28 to continue the initiatives launched at COP27, such as the ENACT initiative and the Global Waste Initiative 50 by 2050. These initiatives have proven to be effective in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices.
Logistic arrangements for Egypt’s participation at COP28, scheduled to take place in late 2023, were thoroughly discussed during the meeting. The aim was to ensure that Egypt’s presence at the conference is smooth and successful, allowing for effective contributions to the global climate change discussions.
